I'd never heard their name before I went to Japan. When I arrived in Japan at the end of September, 1997, they've just released their best album. It was a big hit. Because of curiousity, I bought their best album, and then I became their fan. To be honest with you, I liked them at the beginning because of their cool apperances.
Because I have a friend who is a fan club's member, I can get Glay's concert tickets without problems. As a result, I went to their concerts three times within four months. ( For those fans who can't get tickets to see Glay's concerts, I am sorry! ) Seriously, going to their concert was a very exciting experience. There was one time that I sat at the very last row of the concert hall, and the fans were so excited that my head got hit a few times ( by those who could only get the standing tickets and stood behind me). Their concert usually lasts two and a half hours, and everytime when I need to write a three hour long exam, ( Most of my exams are three hours long.) (>_<) my comment is "My exam is even longer than a Glay's concert!"
In
my opinion, their old songs are better. They can't make another great song
like "However" after the success of their best album so far. "Winter, again"
is still a very good song but "Survival" and "Kokodewanai, dokokahe" just
can't catch the audiences' hearts. I think they have been spending too
much time to promote themselves. I am still looking forward to listen to
their new best works.
