          Puffy in Hong Kong 1999
          ~ Masamune's talk about Puffy ~

Here is Masamune's talk about the song "Ai no shirushi" provided for Puffy.

Masamune: We got together and acted like a "heat wave"? How should I put that...... I think it was the time when we were having concerts in Osaka. Oda (Puffy's producer) came unexpectedly, and I think Mr. Children's Sakurai was also there..... yeah, he was there. We gathered together and chatted in the bar. At that time, Puffy who had just debuted was there too. I was talking about many things with Puffy, but I didn't think that they would become a famous as they are now. Since we were drunk, Puffy asked me to write songs for them, if there was a chance. After this chat in Osaka, Puffy became really big. Well, I still thought they wouldn't take the chat in the bar seriously. In fact, I was told that Oda had already asked other people to write songs for Puffy. I heard that Oda had asked Sakurai but Oda was turned down. I thought it was quite interesting and I wanted to do it. So I called Totars Matsumoto and told him that I would do it if he would do it too. It ended up like this.

        Here is Oda's comment.

Oda: There is an impression that Puffy would be fine even though they sang Spitz's songs without any changes. So, they sang the song, with the lyrics remaining in Spitz's style......

To put it in an informal (or bad) way, they gave me the impression that they would sing whatever I wrote. They would do whatever we asked them to do. Yeah....I think they have a very broad view (of music).
