They liked reading it not because they were interested in basket ball. They were actually interested in the "guys" in the comic. I think at least 50% of the female readers were the fans of Rukawa, and the rest of them probably were the fans of Micchy, Sakuragi, Fujima....

I have a lot of reasons to prove that why Sendoh is better than Rukawa. ( To those who are the fans of Rukawa ( About 50% of the female readers in Slam Dunk ): Don't get mad at me! ) Firstly, Sendoh has better basket ball skills than Rukawa. He is willing to pass the ball to team members; he can be a better leader than Uozumi. Moreover, Sendoh is an extremely intelligent guy. He is friendly and handsome. Finally, he has more facial expressions than Rukawa. (^^;)
Sometimes, I wonder if there is any person who looks much like any of the basket ball players in "Slam Dunk".
One
day, my sister ( an Amuro's freak who likes cute guys very much ) told
me that she found someone in her class look very much like Sendoh. Since
I was a big fan of Sendoh, I went to my sister's class to take a look at
this guy. After I saw him, I thought he looked very much like Sendoh. I
told all my girl friends about this right away. As a result, we all went
to my sister's class to take a look at him. We all got very excited and
tried to look for other people in campus who look like any of the guys
in "Slam Dunk".
